St. Helens and Mt. After a rising traverse, the path switchbacks again to the east side and heads up a brushy alley of Sitka alder and vine maple. From here, take the Windy trail 216E until you reach the Loowit at about 4,500 feet. Continuing around the southeast side of the mountain you will encounter the third major washout on the Loowit at Muddy Creek.

Lahar Viewpoint Trail is a 0.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Cougar, Washington that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels.

From the north, drive I-5 to the exit 68 (for Highway 12 east), then drive 17 miles to Randle.
