Go with the Z-man version with animal meeples. I replaced my disks with meeples long ago so I saw no benefit in 'upgrading'.

The revised edition is missing something like 100 cards, is only 4-player, and the art on the original board is better and the action spaces are clearer to beginners. If you have an original edition I don't think buying the revised edition will do much for you.
